Scots and capricorns

Gian and Giachen, the two ibexes, are probably from Vals too. On the Passo Soreda you will meet their buddies for sure. In the Länta live chamois, fox, rabbit and groundhog, eagle and snow grouse, frog and crossed viper as well.

It’s a different thing with the cows, the sheep and the goats. There are guests in the valley during the summer. Please stay on the ways if you come across animal. If you see calves in a herd, walk around them with as much distance as possible. You shouldn’t touch or feed any animal too, because you won’t get rid of goats if you have given them food take that as an offer to everything they can find in your backpack.

If you come across big rinds with huge horns on the way to the hut, don’t be afraid these are real and good-natured Scots! You can get the appropriate whiskey at the hut.

The dog:

Mother cows have good instincts. They protect themselves and their children from dogs (wolves). If your dog is being attacked by them you should immediately let him off the rope in both cases. Your dog is fast enough to escape. If you hike with a dog you won’t see any wild animals, and the children will try to find groundhogs hopelessly. There are good reasons to let your dogs at home.
