Glacier trail and Valser Rhein

The Länta forms together with their glaciers the region of the spring of the Valser Rhein. The shape of the valley is proof of the forming through the glacier. In 1572 Ägidius Tschudi a traveller and academic from Berne said: ”The Länta is one of the most beautiful glacial valleys in the alps.”

In comparison with other alpine regions, where all the ice has gone in the valley of Vals you can visit and experience nearly every shapes of the remaining glacier. The glacier trail leads you to the heart of the glacier of the Adula-alps the fourth largest glacier region in Graubünden. The impressive and not too difficult hike leads from the hut along the Valser Rhein up to the glacier which is the spring of the the river. This grey water has on his way through the Länta to the lake of Zervreila a wild live with many Meanders, sand banks and terrain grades.

Many hikers who travel from the Greina over the Soredapass to the Länta are surprised by this rare picture of a completely natural-kept river- and glacier valley. And they are enthusiastic.

The glacier trail requires three hours of hiking. Who likes to rest for a while on the walk, continues following the ice or explores the end of the valley for himself is easily busy for the whole day.
